Video and content location in The Hague
A characterful house for video, social content and podcasts. Enough different corners to fill a whole content day, with fast internet and the calm to switch setups quickly.
A content day at one address
Content creators need variety above all. A different background for every reel, a calm spot for a talking head and a colourful corner for something playful. Normally that means moving between locations. Here you walk into the next room.
Maisonette 1897 is a renovated townhouse on the Regentesseplein in The Hague. You hire it by the hour, with every room and the garden included. Wifi at 1 Gbit/s up and down, plenty of power for lights and chargers, and coffee and tea ready to go.
So in a few hours you can shoot reels, brand videos, interviews and product shots, and upload in between without waiting.

Shot vertical, for a phone
Most content is watched upright. So here are three rooms as they look in a vertical frame. The dotted line is the safe zone, clear of the buttons and captions of the app.

The living room, for the talking head
For a talking-head video you want a background that is calm but not dull. A white sofa, a black fireplace, stained glass in the window and books on the shelves. Put your camera in the corner and the frame works straight away.
The soft furnishings keep the sound calm in here. In the afternoon warm west light comes in.
The kitchen, for recipes and products
A marble island is the best workspace for a recipe, a product demo or an unboxing. You can walk all the way round it, so you film from the front, from above or over the shoulder.
Behind you, the garden shows through the stained glass windows. The light here is at its best in the morning.
The playroom, for something colourful
Sometimes it needs to be cheerful. On the lower ground floor there is a playroom with striped panelling, a teepee, a rocking horse and a bookcase. Good for playful content, for kids' brands or for a reel that stands out among all the white interiors.
Next door is another children's room, quieter in tone. So the lower ground floor gives you two very different backgrounds side by side.
Quick changes, podcasts included
Recording a podcast or an interview as well? At the dining table on the raised ground floor three or four people sit at one table under a 3.30 metre ceiling. The podcast page explains how that works, and what to bring for good sound.
Between recordings you take a break at the same table. There are two toilets, and a van with gear can load in at the door.
