Kids and family shoot location in The Hague

Two real children's rooms, morning sun on the lower ground floor and a garden to run around in. An indoor location for family shoots, newborn and maternity sessions, and for baby and kids' brands.

A house where children can simply be children

Children do not pose, they play. That is why a shoot with kids works best somewhere that feels real. Not a white studio with a rug on the floor, but a house with picture books on the shelf, a cot with wooden bars and a rocking horse in the corner.

Maisonette 1897 is our own home on the Regentesseplein in The Hague. When we renovated it, we designed two children's rooms to be photographed. Colour where it works, calm where it matters, and daylight that comes in softly in the morning.

You hire the whole house by the hour, garden included. So a family shoot can start in the children's room, carry on in the big bed and end outside in the garden, without anyone getting back in the car.

Lower ground floor

Two children's rooms, each with its own character

They sit side by side on the lower ground floor. One is calm and light, the other cheerful and full of colour. Two very different sets, a few steps apart.

The master bedroom, for the family on the bed

The bed in the master bedroom with the French doors to the garden behind it

A family shoot on a big bed almost always works. Everyone sits close together, little ones crawl in between and the pictures feel like a lazy Sunday morning.

The master bedroom is on the garden side. Light from the south-east comes in through the French doors, and you see the green of the garden behind the bed. For maternity portraits that is a lovely combination, light and calm, in an interior that never shouts.

The garden, for a breath of fresh air

The south-east facing city garden with grass, parasols and a red maple

Sometimes a child needs some air, and sometimes you want that one picture outside. The city garden faces south-east and gets sun in the morning and early afternoon.

There are striped parasols, a round table with rattan chairs, a lounge corner and a patch of grass. You walk straight out from the bedroom, so switching between inside and outside is quick.

For baby and kids' brands

A kids' brand wants to show its clothes, toys or nursery pieces where they belong. In these rooms your product sits in a real setting straight away, with a bed, a cupboard and daylight, instead of against a white backdrop.

Up to ten people can work here comfortably, so there is room for a photographer, a stylist, parents and a few child models. You take breaks at the dining table on the raised ground floor, and a van with clothes and props can load in at the door.

Would you like to see it first? You are always welcome. We will walk through the rooms together and talk about what your shoot needs.
